MCAS
The Gifford School's principal and educational director are responsible for ensuring that all enrolled students participate in state assessment programs in accordance with the student's IEP.
At each team meeting, Gifford teachers, the public school liaison, parents, and others present discuss and record what tests the student will be taking during the upcoming calendar year. Appropriate accommodations, including the Alternate Assessment, are also discussed.
Prior to the administration of the MCAS testing, head teachers review and prepare for each student's testing, including accommodations. The educational director writes a letter to all parents informing them of the tests their child will be taking and when those tests will be administered.
Gifford adheres to the Massachusetts State Frameworks and prepares all students for MCAS.
