Part-time Summer (8-days total) RN or LPN position
The Gifford School is a small nonprofit therapeutic day school serving students with social, emotional, and learning challenges in small, structured classrooms designed to support complex learning needs. Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts RN or LPN license required
- Experience with children/adolescents in a special education setting preferred
- Ability to develop an understanding of special needs population and therapeutic milieu
- Proven interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrate respect for diversity among our staff and student body and promote an atmosphere which values diversity
Schedule:
- June 29 & June 30 (staff orientation)
- July 7, July 9, July 14, July, 16, July 21 & July 23 (subject to change)
- 7:30 am-3:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Attend 2 days of staff orientation before attending off-campus field trips with our Middle School community (8th & 9th grade) 2x per week during a 20-day program
- Assessing and responding to student health issues and medical emergencies
- Medication administration and documentation
- Provide nursing care for students with complex medical needs including Type 1 Diabetes
- Documenting student health encounters
- Communication with families and guardians when needed
- Communication with on-campus RN for supervision and/or consultation during the day as needed
- Communication with student teaching teams and administrators as needed
