Shelia Calkins

Shelia Calkins Suffolk University, Special Advisor to the President and Director of Title IX and Clery Act Compliance 

Formerly Chief of Staff and Chief Deputy at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office under General Martha Coakley and General Maura Healey (2007-2015) 

Ms. Calkins is a graduate of Alfred University School of Nursing, BSN and a BA of Sociology; Juris Doctor from Willamette University School of Law, Salem, OR. 

From 1984-1986 she was an Associate at Halstrom & Hughes, P.C., practicing a complete range of state and federal litigation, with concentration in plaintiff's medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability and worker's compensation claims. 

From 1987-1994 she served as an assistant district attorney with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office investigating and prosecuting major felony cases in all Massachusetts courts with a concentration in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse and Homicides. 

In 1994 she joined the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office where she served as Chief of the Family Protection Unit, prosecuting all major felonies including Homicides, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse. 

In 1999 Ms. Calkins returned to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and served as First Assistant District Attorney and Deputy Second District Attorney. 

A recent recipient of “Top Women in the Law”, she is a member of the Massachusetts Women's Bar Association and has served on the Governor's Commission Against Domestic Violence, the Criminal History Systems Board, the Massachusetts Child Fatality Review Board and various other Boards and Commissions.
