The Gifford School just hosted its annual Thanksgiving Feast. This is a wonderful community event for current students and staff as well as alumni and former staff. The day starts with several student vs. staff football games and is followed by a grand feast for more than 200 people. Our kitchen staff prepares for days in advance cooking more than 280 pounds of turkey, 30 pounds of butternut squash, 40 pounds of mashed potatoes, 5 gallons of gravy, 25 pounds of green beans, 15 gallons of stuffing, and many tasty desserts made by our students.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for many people and our students especially. Our annual Thanksgiving feast is more than just a tradition. It’s an event that creates an experience of connection and community which is so important for our students and alumni,” said Gifford’s Executive Director Wil Fredian. During the event, a student representative from each school also stands before the community and shares a personal expression of thanks. High school student Andrew Wojtas, also the student government president, encouraged everyone to “remember how Gifford has helped students over the years in a plethora of ways,” and finished his speech by thanking “…staff and fellow students alike for making Gifford a magical and life changing place.”
